The Benefits of Packed-at-Source Bouquets for Customers

In today’s competitive flower market, customers are always looking for ways to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality.

One innovation that continues to lead the way is packed-at-source bouquets. This approach involves arranging and packaging flowers right at the flower farms and it offers significant benefits to all our customers.

We have been packing mixed bouquets out on farms since we began 20 years ago and it continues to be popular with clients across the globe.  Bouquets are designed by our team here in Kenya with guidance from the clients as to what their customers are looking to see both in colour waves as well as flower types.

Products can be fully packed at source into a bouquet complete with sleeve, flower food and even a retailers label.  Alternatively part packed at source is also an option allowing the customer to add their own additional flowers or packaging on receiving it.

Enhanced Freshness and Quality

Packed-at-source bouquets ensure that flowers are cut, arranged, and packaged at the farm. This process significantly reduces the time flowers spend in transit and storage before reaching the wholesaler. By minimising handling and transportation steps, the flowers maintain their freshness and longevity. Research shows that reducing the supply chain steps can prolong the vase life of flowers by several days, enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing waste.

Cost Efficiency

The packed-at-source model can lead to substantial cost savings for wholesalers and retailers alike. By eliminating the need for additional handling and assembly at the wholesaler’s facility, labour costs are significantly reduced. Additionally, this streamlined process cuts down on transportation and storage expenses, as flowers are shipped directly from the farm in their final form. These savings can be passed on to retailers, allowing the end product to be more competitively priced.

Simplified Supply Chain

The logistics of flower distribution can be complex and time-consuming. Packed-at-source bouquets simplify the supply chain by consolidating multiple steps into one efficient process. This simplification not only reduces the risk of damage during handling but also ensures a more consistent product quality. For wholesalers, this means fewer logistical challenges and more reliable inventory management.
