Read MoreA Milestone Anniversary
Founded in 2005, The Flower Hub was established with a clear mission; to simplify Kenya’s flower supply chain, and deliver fresher blooms to global markets. Two decades on, we celebrate 20 years of growth and innovation. Our journey has made sourcing Kenyan flowers effortless for our customers, by connecting farms directly with international retailers, wholesalers and event planners, around the world. In fact, as we approach this anniversary, we have become a Certified B Corporation, reflecting our unwavering commitment to sustainable, ethical growth.
Core Strengths: Farm-Direct Freshness and Quality
At the heart of The Flower Hub’s success is a farm-direct model, & rigorous quality control. We source blooms directly from Kenya’s best growers, ensuring farm fresh stems, direct from farm to you. Our local teams inspect products on the farms daily and manage the entire cold chain, so that flowers arrive in peak condition. Many of our bouquets are even ready-made and “packed at source” on the farm, saving time and handling for customers. All of this is done with sustainability in mind; people, and the planet are at the core of everything we do, so we only partner with farms that meet high environmental and social standards.
Milestones and Achievements
Foundation and Global Reach (2005–2025):
The Flower Hub began in 2005 by exporting summer flowers directly from growers, bypassing traditional auctions. By 2006, we shipped our first roses to Japan, and in 2007, we joined the Kenya Flower Council as an associate member. Today, we deliver Kenyan blooms worldwide – to customers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North America and beyond, sourcing over two billion stems each year.
Supply Chain Innovation:
We introduced mixed boxes and packed-at-source solutions to enhance freshness and convenience. We consolidated operations through Nairobi’s JKIA airport, and continually upgraded our processes. Our Quality Assurance teams inspect every shipment, and we streamline paperwork so that clients receive a single invoice and point of contact.
Ethical Sourcing:
Long before it was common, we offered Fairtrade-certified flowers. We became members of the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI), committing to 90% responsibly sourced flowers by 2025. In 2025, we achieved GLOBAL G.A.P. Chain-of-Custody certification, officially becoming a Certified B Corporation, benchmarks that reflect our dedication to ethical, environmentally friendly practices.
Scale and Partnerships:
Our network includes over 75 accredited Kenyan growers. These partners operate on more than 1,200 hectares and produce billions of stems; about 1.6 billion rose stems per year. This scale guarantees year-round supply of premium varieties. Major retailers, florists and event companies rely on our consistency.
Client Endorsements:
Customers frequently praise our reliability and values. One UK buyer noted, “environmental and social causes are at the forefront of growers’ minds”. Others applaud our service and quality. These endorsements show that The Flower Hub’s commitment to integrity and excellence is recognised by buyers, on a worldwide scale.
Kenya’s Floriculture Legacy
Kenya’s flower industry is a cornerstone of the national economy. It contributes roughly 1 – 1.5% of GDP and directly employs around 150,000 people. The country is now one of the world’s top five flower exporters, accounting for about 16% of global cut-flower trade. For example, roses alone make up roughly two-thirds of Kenya’s flower exports, most of which travel through Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport to international markets. The Flower Hub contributes to that success, by delivering the country’s finest blooms, reinforcing Kenya’s reputation for premium, sustainable floriculture.
Looking Ahead: The Next 20 Years
As we look to the future, The Flower Hub will build on these foundations. Industry experts highlight growing opportunities in Asia and the Middle East, and we are expanding our presence in those markets. We continue to enhance our digital outreach, with our new website making it easier to engage global customers. Sustainability will remain central: as an FSI member and Certified B Corp, we will pursue our remaining sustainability goals – reducing our carbon footprint, investing in communities, and advancing regenerative agriculture, as outlined in our sustainability plan. We look forward to carrying The Flower Hub’s legacy of quality and responsibility into the next 20 years. See how we’re building upon our legacy of quality and responsibility, today.
