Twenty Years Strong: Celebrating The Flower Hub™’s 20th Year
Twenty Years Strong: Celebrating The Flower Hub™’s 20th Year
In 2025, The Flower Hub™ celebrated twenty years of operation. Two decades of sourcing, supplying and delivering cut flowers from Kenya to wholesale buyers, distributors and importers across the world. Twenty years of grower relationships, market knowledge and a team that has grown alongside the business every step of the way.
Read MoreAs we step into our 21st year, we want to look back on what that milestone year actually delivered.
Our Biggest Year Yet
The 20th year delivered the strongest results in The Flower Hub™’s history. We exported 104 million stems over the course of the year, up from 87 million the year before. That is a 19 percent increase in volume, driven by deeper relationships with existing buyers, growth in key markets, and a supply base that performed consistently throughout the year.
Behind that number is a grower network of 88 active farms across Kenya’s key growing regions, and a product range of over 1,600 unique varieties. Roses, alstroemeria, hypericum, spray carnations, specialty stems, and many fillers, to name but a few. The depth and breadth of that range is what allows us to serve buyers with very different needs, across very different markets, with consistency and confidence.
Eight new grower partnerships were established during the year, carefully selected to complement and strengthen the existing supply base. For The Flower Hub™, every grower relationship is a long-term investment, built on shared standards and mutual trust.
Three Markets, One Standard
Our top three destination markets by volume in the 20th year were the United Kingdom, the Middle East, and Japan. Each represents a distinct commercial environment with its own quality expectations, logistics requirements, and buyer culture.
Serving all three well is a mark of operational maturity. The specification that satisfies a Japanese importer is not the same as the one that works for a UK supermarket programme. The cold chain requirements for the Middle East in summer demand a different level of attention than a shipment heading to Amsterdam in February. Understanding those differences, and consistently meeting each market’s standards, is exactly the kind of expertise that twenty years of experience builds.
The year also saw meaningful growth in emerging territories, with new customer relationships established in markets including Namibia and Poland. The global appetite for premium Kenyan flowers continues to expand, and The Flower Hub™ continues to grow with it.
Record Peak Seasons
The flower industry is defined by its peaks, and the 20th year delivered two outstanding ones.
Valentine’s Day 2025 produced a 39 percent increase in volume versus Valentine’s Day 2024, making it the largest Valentine’s campaign in The Flower Hub™’s history at that point. Achieving that kind of growth at peak requires precision at every stage of the supply chain: grower allocation, harvest timing, packing, cold chain management, and on-time delivery. Our team and our growers delivered on all of it.
Mother’s Day 2025 told a similarly strong story, with the UK market in particular achieving outstanding results. Two record peaks in a single year are a reflection of a supply chain that is not just growing in volume, but growing in capability.
A Business Built on Responsible Sourcing
The Flower Hub™ has always believed that doing business well and doing business responsibly are the same thing. The 20th year brought significant recognition of that commitment.
In May 2025, we achieved Certified B Corporation status, with a B Impact Score of 90.3 against a median of 50.9 for comparable businesses. B Corp certification is one of the most rigorous business standards in the world, assessing performance across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Achieving a score of 90.3 in our first assessment reflects the depth of the commitment our team has made to operating with integrity.
On responsible sourcing, The Flower Hub™ proudly purchased 88% percent of stems sold from FSI-compliant farms (farms with a globally benchmarked accreditation in all three pillars of Social, Environmental, and Good Agricultural Practice). Not only is that an increase of 15% on 2024- but also comes alongside a significant increase in volume YoY- next stop over 90%.
A Growing Team
Three new members joined The Flower Hub™ team during the 20th year, bringing us to 42 people. The team is the foundation on which everything else is built: the grower relationships, the quality control, the market knowledge, the logistics expertise. Investing in that team is how we ensure that the next twenty years are built on the same standard as the first.
Looking Forward
The Flower Hub™ enters its third decade as a stronger, larger, more experienced business than at any previous point in its history. The grower network is the most extensive it has ever been. The market reach is broader. The team is growing. And the standards we hold ourselves to, as a B Corp-certified, FSI-member business, are higher than ever.
For buyers looking for a Kenya-based flower supply partner with the depth of experience, the market knowledge, the responsible sourcing credentials, and the operational capability to support a serious programme, the case has never been stronger.
We are proud of what Year 20 delivered. And we are very excited about what comes next. To our growers, our buyers, our partners, and our team: thank you for being part of the first twenty years. Here’s to the next twenty.
